3 Reasons To Pursue a Degree In Business

A degree in business can give you the edge in finding the best employment with good salary and top-notch employee benefits. Just some of the advantages that come with having a business degree are a higher income, being qualified for more job openings, and having a bigger network that may be of help in your business or job someday.

Perhaps the most evident advantage of earning a business degree, especially an MBA, is being qualified to have an increase in salary. Even though getting a business degree can be very expensive, it will pay for itself with time considering the high salary that corresponds with holding an attractive business degree.

A holder of an MBA degree will have a considerable rise in income. Recent studies have revealed that the average salary of an employee with a Business Administration degree is $57,000 per year. Employees with a Master’s of Business Administration degree on the other hand, make $27,000 more per year. This translates to an increase of almost half the usual salary of a BA holder and means gaining an MBA can give a major increase in salary.

Another important reason to earn a business degree is the increased qualification for more high-paying jobs. This is especially true for people who have earned their Masters of Business Administration. Even now, demand for MBA holders are increasing every year with the rising number of multinational companies that expand their operations. By earning a business degree while still in employment, you can choose to file for promotion in your present company or look for greener pasture in the job market. An MBA almost always translates to a guarantee to hold a managerial position in the future.

While studying in college for your business degree, you are sure to meet new friends and new acquaintances. They may soon be your acquaintances in the future as your bosses or co-employees. You therefore create a network that can benefit yourself and your friends. If they are in a stable company and learn that you are looking for a job, they may recommend you for an available position in their company. Furthermore, with friends working in different areas of business, you will gain valuable knowledge that may benefit you in the future.

Although earning a business degree requires a lot of money, time, and effort to finish, it is well worth the sacrifice. The benefits themselves will assure you of a good future ahead.

California Now Has System-Wide CLEP Policy

For years, students have turned to CLEP to help them save money, to help them get ahead in college, or just to be able to graduate on time. CLEP has been a great solution to these issues, but for some students, taking a CLEP is an overly complicated process, due to the varying CLEP policies that each university and college holds. For Californian students though, things have just gotten a lot simpler.

The California State University system, consisting of 23 different campuses, recently enacted a system-wide policy on CLEPs. The CSU Academic Senate came to a unanimous decision to grant college credit to students who did well on any of the 33 separate CLEP test. Gone are the days when Californians needed to research each state university to determine their individual CLEP policies, for admissions or transferring. The policy for CLEP tests is now the same for every one of the California State Universities. This is good news for everyone involved. It makes things easier on students by saving them the time and hassle of researching their college’s policy. It also makes things easier for universities, as there should be less conflict for students transferring within the system. And lastly, it’s good for the CLEP program itself, as it makes students more likely to take the tests, seeing that they are now universally accepted.

California is not the only state to have a state-wide, system-wide policy. Four other states have beaten California to this step. These states are Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, and North Dakota. These states are on the forefront of facilitating the move towards more efficient means of earning college credit. Students want to take CLEPs, and these states have done a great job of making it easier for students to do so.
